Buzz Anderson on quality vs first to market

"Shipping quality is a longer, tougher road than just shipping whatever to be first to market, and its benefits tend to be realized more slowly, but if you want users to love your software as a brand, and not merely use it as a commodity, it’s the only way"

Axis coverage

Purple pin is where I was, blue is I presume the nearest cell tower. That is one hell of a coverage for one tower if it's accurate, it's nearly half of south Jakarta.

My old neighborhood was covered by no less than four Indosat towers and signal was shit.

Of course, Axis has nowhere near the volume of subscribers that Indosat does so that would explain why it doesn't yet need that level of saturation.

Google Mobile App Ninja

It's been known that Google employs pigeons to generate results for its search pages but their latest scheme in hiring oddball staff seem to hit a different note this time.

Using its latest version of Google Mobile Apps for iPhone OS, Google thought they could unleash ninjas into unsuspecting iPhone and iPod touch owners. We all know Google hires the best brains on the planet but apparently they missed the note about ninjas operating in stealth mode. Announcing them this way is rather ineffective to say the least.

On the other hand, maybe they're just making you think they have ninjas now but have had them since the start.

Speaking of the latest version, they also proudly tell you that it now features "Longer version number"
